The Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors hosted its eighth annual Spirit of Pink on October 18th at the Lake of Isles in North Stonington. This year the association raised $10,000 for the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation. Last year they raised $6,482.
On November 19, ECAR representatives presented a check to TBBCF’s treasurer and founding board member, Stacey Gualtieri, and 2019 walk director and foundation director of operations, Kate Davis.
Anne Ogden, a recent cancer survivor and honorary chair of the TBBCF’s 2019 Walk Across Southeastern Connecticut, gave the keynote address at the October 18 fundraiser, where she talked about her struggles facing a cancer diagnosis and being hopeful that a cure will be found.
Gualtieri also addressed the crowd emphasizing the importance of events and promotions such as the Spirit of Pink that help us reach our goal of funding breast cancer researchers each year.
The event was hosted by the 2019 ECAR Affiliate Committee. Serving as masters of ceremony were Nicole Crimm and Christopher Albanase.
TBBCF donates 100 percent of its fundraising dollars for breast cancer research in the form of $100,000 grants. To date, TBBCF has awarded more than $4.4 million in research grants.
